OCT - New tender for furniture

In the past few months several staff members of Facility Management and colleagues from faculties and service departments have worked on the new tender for the purchase of furniture at the UT. It concerns a contract lasting four years, in effect from 1 October 2015. The tender document takes into account the requirements UT staff often has when they order furniture. We have therefore decided to work within certain frameworks, instead of pinning down the type of product to be purchased. A pre-selection has been made for office chairs and the furniture for education rooms.

The tender has been divided in four parcels: office chairs, other office furniture, furniture for education rooms and project furniture. Representatives of faculties and service departments have helped with the assessment and formulation of the tender.

What has changed after this tender?

Webshops will be set up to enable you to order office chairs, office furniture and furniture for education rooms. There will also be a mini competition between the three suppliers in project furniture and office furniture if the costs of your order exceed € 2,500. If your order totals less than € 2,500 you can order from the webshops.

What has been assessed?

The UT thinks sustainability is very important, this was one of the criteria on which the suppliers were assessed. Other points for assessment were social entrepreneurship, being able to offer webshops and innovation. Of course we also reviewed the price. In order to know to what extent the suppliers were able to project the UT's unique disposition, and with that the function and design of the rooms, we requested two completed propositions for "fictional designs". Receiving a completed proposition ensures proper assessment of the supplier.

What's next

Each faculty and service department will be consulted about how things will be designed and implemented. (who can order, etc.) The webshops will be designed in the weeks to come as well. Once all tools are ready for use the persons involved will be informed.
