Since August 2012 I am employed as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Twente. Next to my affiliation with the Stochastic Operations Research group I'm also affiliated with the Center for Healthcare Operations Improvement and Research. In my research, I study complex capacity distribution problems in healthcare. I have specific expertise on appointment planning at outpatient clinics and diagnostic facilities. I believe it is essential to implement (theoretical) scientific results in practice.
In January 2012 I obtained my PhD degree from the University of Twente. My PhD research was partially funded by Leiden University Medical Center, one of the eight tertiary care facilities in the Netherlands.. The pdf of the thesis can be downloaded using this link. Several of my findings have been implemented at this hospital.
