Biography

Maurits de Graaf (1966) received a PhD degree at the University of Amsterdam in 1994 for the thesis Graphs and curves on surfaces. From 1994 to 1999 he was with KPN Research, working on traffic management methods for ATM networks. Since 1999 he is with the innovation department of Thales Netherlands B.V., Huizen where he is involved in various collaborative projects with other companies and institutions. Topics addressed are: IP, IPv6, VoIP, IEEE 802.11, IEEE 802.1q, and wireless routing algorithms. Since 2006 he is combining his work at Thales with a part time position at the University of Twente with the department of Stochastic Operations Research, where he is teaching courses on random graphs, and where he is involved in various projects on the development of algorithms to increase the lifetime of wireless ad-hoc communication and sensor networks by reducing the energy consumption, while maintaining the reliability of the network.
