Silicene nanoelectronics

In this project we grow silicene, exploring the proper adsorbant-substrate interaction to stimulate 2D growth. Structural and electronic properties of the so-obtained silicene candidate systems are investigated with surface science methods, e.g. scanning tunneling microscopy, electron diffraction, and photoelectron spectroscopy. Successfully grown silicene layers on dielectric, semiconductor and/or superconducting films will be processed by nanolithograpic methods into generic test structures, which will be characterized by magnetotransport measurements at cryogenic temperatures.
