Gerrit van Wijk has studied Applied Mathematics, physics and biology at RUU.
He teaches mathematics at Carmel College Salland, where he is also member of staff for ICT. He is interested in the role of ICT in education. In addition, he will be a bridge for his students between secondary school and University especially in math.
He enjoys working at University of Twente. He is a member of a team professionals that cooperate to enthuse and give a good foundation in math for all technical students of the University. After each period of ten weeks the team evaluates that period together with students. Theory and practise are carefully intertwined. Students have a lot of possibilities to ask for help, after a short period they must be self-reliant. This self-reliantcy is an important skill which they must learn at secondary school.
