The Multiscale Modeling and Simulation group (MMS) focuses on the mathematical development and application of computational models for complex systems of differential equations. The work addresses problems of scientific and technological significance. Emphasis is put on dynamical processes acting simultaneously at micro- and macro scales.
In the research of MMS, mathematical analysis, physics and numerical methods come together to build consistent multiscale simulation models for key problems in science and technology.
At MMS we aim to contribute to a variety of multi-disciplinary problems, while adhering to a coherent mathematical tradition in numerical analysis and mathematical physics. The research has grown into a strong, externally funded, program of interlinked PhD projects, which we aim to maintain and extend. We work closely with colleagues from different disciplines and our long-term focus is on developing the mathematical basis of new computational methods.
