Deepak Tunuguntla is a PhD student, with a joint position between the Mathematics of Computational Science (MaCS) and Multi-scale Mechanics (MSM) group, at University of Twente. He is working on the topic " Multi-scale Discrete and Discontinuous Galerkin FEM for granular flows ". The primary project supervision is undertaken by Dr. Onno Bokhove (MaCS) and Dr. Anthony Thornton (MSM and MaCS).
He received his Master's degree in Computational Mechanics of Materials and Structures (COMMAS) at University of Stuttgart (Germany). His goal is to investigate dry granular flows incorporating the effects of polydisperity and non-uniform shape of the particles for both rotating and non-rotating situations. This is carried out by formulating heterogeneous multiscale model coupling macroscale continuum with microscale discrete particle models, using integrated DEM and DGFEM.
