PHD POSITION IN HEALTH CARE PROCESS OPTIMIZATION

within the group Discrete Mathematics and Mathematical Programming (DMMP).
The PhD position is part of a larger project

'LOGISTICAL DESIGN FOR OPTIMAL CARE (LOGIDOC)'

founded by Technology Foundation STW, which started in 2008. Within LogiDOC, we collaborate with some 12 partners from the health care sector.

The research aims to develop mathematical models and techniques to analyse and support the design of the optimal logistical layout of hospitals with a given case mix and desired performance levels.

Various PhD subprojects address all levels of hospital planning and control, and analyse the relation between system configurations, optimized and robust system planning and control, and system performance.

The research of the PhD student will focus on patient flow optimization using combinatorial optimization techniques. She/He will be part of a team of 5 PhD students and will cooperate intensively with one of the hospitals involved in the LogiDOC project. The LogiDOC project itself is part of the 'Centre for Healthcare Operations Improvement & Research' CHOIR.
