Abstract:

The release of US embassy cables by Wikileaks last year caused mixed reactions. Several companies joined a boycott against Wikileaks, which

provoked counterattacks from supporters of the website. A group of activists, so-called "Anonymous", launched several DDoS attacks targeting those companies, using a tool called LOIC. In this
Colloquium, I will present more details about one of those attacks, which targeted PayPal. I will show that the "Anonymous" group not only
neglected their own privacy, but also used a rather inefficient method
of attack, which probably has not disrupted PayPal's services.
