Learning at Work

For the topic of Learning at Work the following literature should be studied:

Harrison, R. & Kessels J.W.M. (2004). The emerging knowledge economy. In R. Harrison & J. Kessels (Eds.),
Human Resource Development in a knowledge economy, (pp. 3-19).  New York: Palgrave Macmillan.

In this chapter we explain our rationale for focusing the book on HRD in a knowledge economy, and identify key issues that underpin the book’s structure and themes. We set the scene for subsequent chapters by reflecting on the nature and causes of the emerging knowledge economy and on macro-level issues that provide the framework for HRD as an organisational process. We conclude by examining some of the needs and challenges facing that process.
