5 OCTOBER: FIRST MOOC LAUNCHED, THE SECOND IS IN PROGRESS
The UT is currently working on two Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). “Ultrasound Imaging: What Is Inside?”, will be launched on 5 October 2015. There are already more than 1000 registrations. De MOOC “Supply Chain Innovation” will follow at the end of this year. This form of online education gives the UT the opportunity to share Twente knowledge and specializations with a global audience.
It is impossible to imagine online education without the acronym MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses). In the summer of 2014, the Executive Board decided to invest in online education, and specifically in MOOCs. The design and development of a MOOC requires a wide range of skills. A good online course is more than just video images; tests, assignments and other learning activities are also offered.
The two teams of lecturers have been working since the autumn of 2014. They are supported by a project coordinator for each MOOC. Where necessary, there is also a support team formed from ICTS, M&C and CES for all activities that arise. This involves educational advice, including marketing and legal affairs. The UT has also entered into a partnership with Futurelearn.
