Rahma Muthia was born on August 14th, 1989 in Bukittinggi, West Sumatera, Indonesia. Muthia spent her childhood in a small village, close to Bukittinggi, before moving to Jakarta in 2007 to start doing her undergraduate study of Chemical Engineering at Universitas Indonesia (UI). In 2011, she had a short experience working as a Project Engineer at Tripatra, an engineering and construction company in Indonesia. She moved to Enschede in 2012 and was awarded the University of Twente Scholarship (UTS) for her master program of Chemical Engineering at the University of Twente (UT). During her study, she also worked as an international student assistant at the Department of Marketing and Communication (M&C), UT. Graduating from her master program, for one year she worked as a Co-Project Coordinator of a sub-work package in the Geothermal Capacity Building Programme Indonesia-Netherlands.
Since January 2016, she is working on a PhD program under the supervision of Prof. Anton A. Kiss and Dr. Louis van der Ham. Her PhD topic is Evaluating the Applicability of Reactive Distillation to Chemical Processes. Having been funded by the Indonesian government (LPDP) for her PhD, she brings a great mission to become the next process technologist for Indonesian industries and academic institution.
