Understanding dynamics of Gas bubble formation

Aim is to:

  • Study bubble growth by confocal microscopy
  • Correlate gas bubble dynamics to electrode performance (current density)
  • Model bubble growth by methodology developed in the PoF group

Principle of Measurement:

“Confocal microscopy" (equipment provided by Prof. D Lohse - Physics of Fluids group - University of Twente) allowing for high resolution imaging of samples. 

As shown in the picture the reflection mode of the confocal is used along with a transmission detector to define contact area and size of electrochemically generated bubbles”
