S&T Faculty Board complete: two new vice-deans appointed

We are proud to announce that the S&T Faculty Board will be complete again from 2026. In recent weeks, we have successfully appointed two new vice-deans: one for Education and one for Research & Innovation.

André ten Elshof will take on the role of Vice Dean of Education. He has already fulfilled this role on an interim basis in recent months and has demonstrated his ability to successfully tackle educational challenges. André is Professor of Inorganic & Hybrid Nanomaterials Chemistry, affiliated with the NEM and IMS research groups. His research focuses on new nanomaterials for energy storage and generation.

With his experience in teaching and managing bachelor's and master's programmes and his knowledge of innovative technologies, he will contribute to educational innovation and the linking of education to research. He looks forward to further developing education and research in this permanent role.

André ten Elshof:

As Vice-Dean of Education, I would like to contribute to future-proof and inspiring education that optimally prepares our students for their next step. It is a wonderful challenge to continue working on this together with lecturers, students and support staff in the coming years.

Devaraj van der Meer will become Vice-Dean of Research & Innovation. He is a professor at Physics of Fluids (TNW-POF). Devaraj has broad expertise in fluid dynamics, impact processes and the physics of particles and bubbles, with applications in both fundamental research and applied technology.

With his experience in leading complex research projects and his in-depth knowledge of experimental and computational methods, he will contribute to further strengthening the faculty's research strategy. He looks forward to fulfilling this role and further strengthening the connection between research, innovation and education.

Devaraj van der Meer

This appointment gives me the opportunity to actively contribute to research at our faculty, where I have enjoyed working for many years. My goal is to tackle recent challenges together and thus lay the foundation for a bright future.

With these appointments, we look forward to 2026 with confidence. A full faculty board means that we can continue to build on both our research and our education with renewed energy. We warmly welcome André and Devaraj to the faculty board and look forward to working with them!
