Real progress in healthcare occurs when science, technology, and practice come together. On Thursday, November 6, 2025, the TechMed Centre of the University of Twente will host the annual TechMed Event in Enschede. This is the meeting place where researchers, medical specialists, technicians, and the business community come together to collaborate on better and future-oriented healthcare.
This year's theme, ‘Beyond the Breakthrough’, emphasizes that technological breakthroughs only have real value if they make a tangible difference for the patient. The event therefore focuses on the crucial step from innovation to implementation. How do we ensure that promising technologies are actually integrated into daily practice? The answer lies in collaboration. By connecting all links in the medical technology ecosystem, we are working towards healthcare that is smarter, more people-oriented, and more effective.
From clinical challenge to international impact
The TechMed Event offers a varied programme full of in-depth information and concrete opportunities for collaboration. Be inspired by keynote speakers such as Femke Nijboer, who stimulates the discussion in healthcare by asking people to live short and happy. How can you wreck your health and body? And Danina Kapetanović (University of Waterloo), who shows what the hospital of the future could look like, where technology and care go hand in hand.
Current topics such as Women's health, Cardiovascular health, Musculoskeletal health, AI in healthcare, Medical imaging and Bioengineering will also be discussed. In addition, there will be three in-depth sessions on: Cross-border collaboration, Accelerating healthcare innovations: from idea to practical application, and how innovative ideas find their way into other fields and international contexts, such as the cross-pollination between defence and medical technology. There will also be plenty of opportunities for interaction at the MedTech Innovation Forum, where visitors can discover prototypes and demos, attend pitches, take guided tours and talk to experts.
A meeting place for collaboration
The TechMed Event is known as the central meeting place in the eastern Netherlands where the medical technology sector comes together. The event attracts a wide audience, including medical specialists, researchers, technicians, companies, policymakers, executives and financiers. The event is accredited by both ABAN and NVvTG, ensuring that participation contributes to the professional development and continuing education of attendees.
The aim is not only to inspire, but above all to activate and initiate valuable collaborations that have a direct impact on the healthcare of tomorrow.
Event Details & Registration
Employees of the University of Twente can attend the TechMed Event for €75 (regular ticket: €100). Planning to come with a group of at least 5 people? A group ticket is available for €300 for 5 participants, with each additional person costing €60. A special rate of €30 per ticket is offered for bachelor's and master's students.
