University of Twente Professor Hans Hilgenkamp has been appointed a member of the Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities (KHMW). The organization aims to promote science in the Netherlands and build bridges between science and society.
Prof. Hilgenkamp holds a post at the University of Twente as dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology and as Professor of Applied Physics. He conducts research in the field of nanomaterials with special electronic properties.
Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities (KHMW)
The KHMW is known as the oldest learned society in the Netherlands. The organization was founded in 1752, and has been located at the palatial listed building Hodshon House in Haarlem since 1841. The Society was conferred the designation of Royal on its 250th anniversary in 2002. King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands is the Society’s protector. The KHMW currently has approximately 480 members from all fields of science in the Netherlands. Membership is considered prestigious and can only be obtained by invitation.
