Two days of inspiring scientific exchange NWO Physics 2026

We are pleased to share that the XUV Optics group of the NanoElectronic Materials department (MESA+) proudly participated in NWO Physics 2026, where the Dutch physics community came together in Veldhoven on January 20–21.

With around 1500 physicists present, the conference covered the full breadth of physics — from quantum and nanoscale physics to particle physics and the physics of life — showcasing the latest research across disciplines.

🎤Sessions hosted by our XUV group and featured inspiring contributions from our team

 🎤 Oral presentations

  • Dr. Stefan van Vliet, presenting “Robust thin film permeation sensor at near-room temperature"
  • Duncan Ramsamoedj, presenting “Extreme ultraviolet induced oxidation of SiNy under CrOx thin films”
  • Leon Gerlach, presenting “Characteristics of plasma-induced diffusion in thin films

 🖼️ Poster presentations

  • Niek Lokhorst, titled “The effect of discretization on uncertainty quantification using the free-form model
  • Evgenii Chebykin, titled “Synchrotron calibration of transmission grating spectrometer for EUV measurements
  • Timur Terentev, titled "Callibration-free X-ray fluorescence technique for in-depth analysis of thin fillms
  • Arthur van der Sar, titled “Atomic-scale interface engineering in Cr/Sc multilayers for water window applications”
  • Weihua Wu, titled " Improving hydrogen barrier performance of ultra-thin yttrium oxide

A great opportunity to exchange ideas, spark new collaborations, and enjoy two days of excellent science and lively discussions. Many thanks to the organizers and everyone who made this event such a success!
