The outer few nanometers of a membrane can determine to a large extent its selectivity and fouling behavior. Therefore understanding and controlling these interactions can lead to improved performance, and also additional functionalities such as responsive behavior, anti-viral/anti-bacterial properties, easy cleanability and enhanced selectivities. Understanding of and control over the membrane surface interactions are studied in three research lines within the group
