Anna Szarpak was born in Zwoleń (Poland), on 9th July of 1979. She studied at the Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in Lublin (UMCS), Poland, where she obtained her master degree in Chemistry in 2003. After graduating, she joined the Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa (AJD), Poland, working as an assistant in Institute of Chemistry and Environmental Protection. In 2005 she moved to CERMAV-CNRS in Grenoble (France), to start as Ph.D candidate in “Structure and characterization of Polysaccharides” group under supervision of prof. Rachel Auzély-Velty. She received her Ph.D degree in May, 2009 with the Ph.D thesis entitled “Layer-by-layer capsules of hyaluronic acid as potential drug carriers: synthesis, characterization and manipulation the properties”.
Since October 2009 she is holding a post-doctoral position at the MNF group at the University of Twente (the Netherlands) under the supervision of Prof. Jurriaan Huskens. Her research project is focused on the supramolecular chemistry in build-up of multifunctional magnetic nanocontainers for therapeutic and imaging probes.
