Almudena Marti was born the 5th of February 1986 in Gandia (Spain) and studied Chemistry at the Universitat de València (Spain). After awarding his Bachelor degree, in 2010 she gained her Master’s degree in Experimental and Industrial Organic Chemistry, in July 2012. Afterwards she was awarded with a Spanish government fellowship (FPI) to carry on her PhD thesis. In 2015 she defended her PhD Thesis entitled “Functionalized Gold Nanoparticles for the detection of biologically active molecules” under the supervision of Prof. Pablo Gaviña Costero and Prof. Margarita Parra Alvárez.
From January 2016 to November 2016, she worked as a post doc in the group of Prof. Françoise Spirau at the ENSCM (École nationale supérieure de chimie de Montpellier) . During this period, she was working on the development of gold nanoobject functionalized with μ-conjugated molecules for the study of the optoelectronic properties of this new materials.
Since December 2016, she is a post doc at MNF group of Prof. Jurriaan Huskens. The aim of the project is to develop a sensor for cancer detection kit in collaboration with other groups at the University of Twente.
