BIOGRAPHY
Rudolf Verdaasdonk is full professor of Health Technology Implementation in the TechMed Centre at the University of Twente. Based on a >30 years experience working as a clinical physicist closely with medical professionals in hospitals and medical technology companies, he oversees the route from idea/invention to implementation in Healthcare connecting the key players. He bridges the technology push from universities with the clinical need from health institutes. He advises researchers in preparation the iMDD, clinical studies, Ethical Committee applications and CE certification in view of the Medical Device Regulations.
His research interest and expertise is in the interaction of medical devices with the patient in view of safety, effectivity and treatment quality as needed for validation. He is developing new applications in a broad range of surgical equipment and imaging modalities for diagnostics in close collaboration with the clinical professionals. He authored over 200 papers, proceedings and book chapters.
As expert on medical devices, he is appointed on the Netherlands Central Committee on Research Involving Human Subjects (CCMO) and member of an EU MDR expert panel.
