Post-doctoral Researcher

R.M. (Roald) Tiggelaar (1976) received his MSc-degree in Electrical Engineering in July 2000 at the University of Twente (The Netherlands). From October 2000 to December 2004 he worked towards his PhD-degree on the same university, on silicon-technology based microreactors for heterogeneous catalytic partial oxidation reactions. From January 2005 to September 2011 he worked as post-doctoral researcher in various research groups on the development of microreactors for high-pressure organic chemistry, systems for investigations on three-phase catalytic reactions and microfluidic systems embedded infused silica. During the period October 2010 - May 2011 he was employed at iX-factory GmbH in Dortmund, Germany. Since June 2011 he joined the Mesoscale Chemical Systems group. Currently he is working on a project in which preconcentration chips are developed to analyze human breath for early diagnosis of lung diseases. His research interests focus on micro-electromechanical fabrication technologies, material science as well as the development of silicon-technology based microreactors & analytical microsystems and their applications.
