Design:
1. Waveguide end facet coupler optimization (broadband in VIS range, fabrication capability, end facet polishing setup design)
2. Broadband grating structure design with improved upward efficiency.
3. Broadband single-mode waveguide design
4. Micro mirror surface simulation and generate a 3D printing model.
5. Efficient UV grating coupler design
6. 3D printed tunable Micro Mirrors
7. Design an Angled MMI (Multi-Mode Interferometer)
Fabrication:
1. Deep SiO2 etching optimization
2. Nano micro imprint process development for 3D printed micro-optics and micro-mechanics (collaboration with Morphotonics).
3. Imprint polymer waveguides (collaboration with Morphotonics).
Testing and Measurement:
1. On-chip cross-dispersion astrospectrometer characterization.
2. Joint development and testing of wafer-level testing equipment.
3. Biosensing with the SepsPIC setup. Testing and date processing.
4. Inter-chip spacer with laser forward transfer (between 2 UT groups and LioniX)
5. Characterize 3D printed micro mirrors from UV (261 nm ) to IR (reflectivity, beam quality, alignment influence, matching with simulation).
6. Unidirectional on-chip laser characterization.
