UT-partner Manuel Bibes wins Descartes-Huygensprijs

The French physicist Manuel Bibes will receive the Descartes-Huygens Prize 2017. That was announced on December 14, 2017 by the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW), He has been awarded the prize for their outstanding research and their contribution to Franco-Dutch relations, including several projects together with the University of Twente. Bibes shares the prize with Daniël Vanmaekelbergh of Utrecht University.

Collaboration

Manuel Bibes works together with researchers from the University of Twente’s Inorganic Materials Science (IMS) research group on two projects. The first project concerns Metal-Insulator transitions in Nickelates. Researchers from the UT also collaborate with him on the EU-project ULPEC (ultra low power event-based camera), in which an  event-based camera based on neuromorphic electronics is being developed. Bibes will use part of the prize money, 23.000 euros, to visit the UT and strengthen the partnership.
