News of June 2019
THREE LECTURES WERE GIVEN BY MEMBERS OF THE INORGANIC MEMBRANES GROUP
From June 16 till June 20, the 16th Conference of the European Ceramic Society was held in Torino, Italy (https://www.ecers2019.org).
Louis Winnubst had an invited lecture, entitled “Tuning microporous ceramic membranes for solvent nanofiltration”.
Here he summarized the work of Ana Pinheiro, Cheryl Tanardi and Renaud Merlet as well as that of TU Delft PhD student Mohammad Amirilargani (the TUD partner in Renaud’s project).
Mieke Luiten gave a lecture on “Mesoporous(hybrid) silica nanochannelmembranes”, discussing a/o the work as described in the paper of Marie, Mieke et al. (refer to paper)
Finally our PhD student Fanlin Zeng presented his first results in his lecture: “Optimization of Ce0.8Gd0.2O1.9-FeCo2O4 dual phase membranes with varying homogenity & grain size of FeCo2O4
A new paper on the potential of phosphonate-based ionic liquid for CO2 separation.
Applications are now online! “Controlled grafting of dialkylphosphonate-based ionic liquids on g-alumina: design of hybrid materials with high potential for CO2 separation applications” RSC Adv., 2019, 9, 19882–19894.

Pelin Karakiliç was at the 8th IZMM2019.
Pelin Karakiliç was at the 8th International Zeolite Membrane Meeting (IZMM2019) in Luleå, Sweden from the 16th to the 20th of June to present her work on ''Defect-free high-silica CHA zeolite membranes for gas separation applications'' (https://www.ltu.se/research/subjects/Kemisk-teknologi/Konferenser/IZMM2019?l=en)
Renaud Merlet gave a presentation at the 5th Annual Soft Matter+ Day.
The 20th of June, Renaud Merlet gave a presentation at the 5th Annual Soft Matter+ Day of the University of Twente on “A new, green thioether-based crosslinked membrane for nanofiltration applications”. These were the findings of an intra-IM collaboration between Ph.D. students Renaud Merlet and Nikos Kyriakou to develop such membranes. Be on the lookout for a publication of the same name !
The ECRG members joined the 22nd SSI.
The ECRG members joined the 22nd International Conference on Solid State Ionics (http://ssi-22.org/) hosted from the 16th to the 21th of June at PyeongChang in Korea. Henny Bouwmeester gave a keynote lecture entitled "Oxygen surface exchange studies on mixed ionic- electronic conducting oxides : infuence of surface composition & decoration".
Jason Song and Zainab Aman presented a poster on respectively the " Influence of alkaline-earth substitution on structure and oxygen transport of perovskite-type oxides La0.6A0.4FeO3-δ (A = Ca, Sr, Ba)” on the “Influence of post-annealing on oxygen diffusion and surface exchange of LSCF”.
Zainab Aman recieved the poster award at the 22ND SSI.
Congratulations to Zainab Aman for the poster award received at the 22nd International Conference on Solid State Ionics the 21th of June 2019 at PyeongChang in Korea.
