I obtained my MSc degree in applied physics in 2002 and started as a trainee medical physicist in Medisch Spectrum Twente hospital before I was able to finish my MA in philosophy of science, technology and society. My four-year training as a medical physicist included a wide variety of projects within almost every department of the hospital and I have been a medical physicist at the departments of neurosurgery and neurology since its completion. I completed an additional MSc in neuroscience in 2009 and defended my PhD thesis on spinal cord stimulation for the treatment of neuropathic pain in 2013.
I work on several projects at the departments of neurosurgery, neurophysiology and anaesthesiology. My current research topics include neuromodulation for the treatment of epilepsy, neuromodulation for the treatment of neuropathic pain and neurophysiology of pain.
