Tjitske Bannink was born in Hengelo, the Netherlands, in 1995. After graduating high school in 2013, she started to study Technical Medicine at the University of Twente. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in 2016 and started the master track Medical Imaging & Interventions. After a first clinical internship at the radiology department of the University Medical Center Utrecht, she started her second internship at the surgery department of the Medisch Spectrum Twente hospital in Enschede in corporation with the Magnetic Detection & Imaging group of the University of Twente. The subject of research during this internship is related to metastases evaluation of the in-vivo axillary sentinel lymph node in early breast cancer patients with use of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Super Paramagnetic Iron Oxide (SPIO) particles.
