Hi! I am Sophie Ligtenstein! I decided to discover the world on the 3rd of February 1994. I grew up in Bloemendaal and went to high school in the beautiful capital of North-Holland: Haarlem. While growing up, I found out I had a passion for medicine and exact courses, specifically mathematics, and so, I started studying Technical Medicine at the University of Twente. After my bachelor I realized that my love for mathematics was slightly bigger than I thought, which is the reason why I am studying Applied Mathematics as well. Moreover, the combination of these two studies offers me the tools to dive deeper into the complex world of Neuroscience. I am delighted to perform my master thesis / final project as part of The Clinical Neurophysiology group and expect it to be a great opportunity to get to know the brain a bit better, to contribute to Neurophysiological research and to meet new and interesting people.
My research will focus on tripartite synapses during metabolic stress.
