My name is Inês Dias and I come from Lisbon, Portugal. I received my bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at NOVA University of Lisbon and I’m currently a Biomedical Engineering master student at the University of Twente. During my studies and through several internships in hospitals and research centres, I discovered my passion for neuroscience and the mysteries of the brain. By joining the Clinical Neurophysiology group to perform my master thesis I hope to feed my curiosity and keep on learning and exploring this such unknown and exciting field.
My master assignment will focus on the role of bursting in memory formation and consolidation in MEAs and the role of slow wave sleep in memory consolidation. To achieve this, memory traces will be induced in cortical cultures submitted to cholinergic input and bursting patterns subsequently analyzed.
