Sarah Jane Asshoff studied chemistry at the University of Bremen, Germany. She completed her studies by writing a diploma theses entitled „Chiral Gold Nanoparticles - synthesis and characteristics“ at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials (IFAM) in Bremen in 2010.
Afterwards she worked as a graduate research assistant in the Adhesives and Polymer Chemistry Group at IFAM, where she dealt with conductive adhesives for microsystems for a period of six months. She received her Ph.D. in 2015 from the University of Twente. Her research focused on “Encoding of smart behavior in chiral liquid crystal-based materials” and was carried out under the supervision of Prof. dr. Nathalie Katsonis. After finishing her Ph.D. Sarah is working as a post-doctoral researcher on liquid crystal polymers in 3D confinements, like fibers and droplets, and the structure and mechanical properties thereof.
