Dhanya completed her Bachelors in Electronics and Instrumentation engineering from Amrita University, Coimbatore, India. After this, she pursued a one year course in Bioelectronics from The University of Edinburgh before joining University of Twente for MSc Nanotechnology. She received her master’s degree in August 2017. Her master thesis titled ‘Photoactive liquid crystal shells: droplet microfluidic production and light fueled dynamics of topological defects’ was carried out under the supervision of Prof Nathalie Katsonis and Dr Séverine Le Gac.
In October 2017, Dhanya started her PhD under the supervision of Prof. Nathalie Katsonis. Her project aims at the development of autonomous systems that can generate controlled propulsion and can self-replicate using physical autocatalysis.
