Chengfen Xing was born in Shangdong, China, on 18th of January in 1982. She studied Chemistry in the Shandong Normal University, China, from September 2001 to June 2005, and she received her bachelor degree In June 2005. She studied in Shandong Normal University, China, from September 2005 to June 2008 majoring in Organic Chemistry. She completed three-year-internship in Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ICCAS) and got her master degree cum laude. In 2011, she completed her PhD thesis on the “Design and synthesis of new photoresponsive conjugated polyelectrolytes for antimicrobial and anticancer applications” at the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ICCAS) in the group of Professor S. Wang. She completed fabrication of systems in detection of biomacromolecules and design of multifunctional photosensitive systems based on fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) for anticancer and antibacterial applications.
Since August 2011, she is a postdoc under the supervision Professor dr. J. J. L. M. Cornelissen at the University of Twente, where she studies the assembly of virus capsid by tuning their interaction with functional polyelectrolytes.
