Benjamin Matt was born in New York (USA), on June 11th, 1985. He studied Molecular Chemistry in Berlin (Germany), in Montreal (Canada) and in Paris (France). In 2009 he received his Master degree in Organic and Bioorganic Chemistry from the University Pierre and Marie Curie (UPMC, Paris). His master project, entitled ‘Gadolinium High-spin Complexes : Contrast Agents for MRI’, was carried out in the Supramolecular Chemistry Group under the supervision of Dr. Valérie Marvaud and Pr. Dr. Bernold Hasenknopf. He received his Ph.D. in September 2012 from the UPMC, at the Institut Parisien de Chimie Moléculaire. His research focused on `Hybrid Polyoxometalates for Solar Energy Conversion’ and was carried out under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Anna Proust.
Since November 2012, Benjamin is a postdoctoral researcher in the Biomolecular Nanotechnology group under the supervision of Dr. Nathalie Katsonis. The aim of his project is to develop dynamic templates for nano-particles, based on chiral liquid crystals.
