Wiendelt Steenbergen appointed Professor and Chair of Biomedical Photonic Imaging

Wiendelt Steenbergen appointed Professor and Chair of Biomedical Photonic Imaging 26 september 2010 - Dr. Ir. Wiendelt Steenbergen has been appointed Professor and Chair of Biomedical Photonic Imaging (BMPI) since 1 June 2010.
He started his career with an MSc degree in aerospace engineering in 1988 at the Delft University of Technology. He obtained a PhD degree at the Eindhoven University of Technology in 1995, specializing in optical measurement and modeling of turbulent flow.

Best Student Poster Presentation Award

Best Student Poster Presentation Award 27 april 2010 - Jithin Jose of the Biomedical Photonic Imaging (BMPI) group won the Best Student Poster Presentation Award in the Photoacoustic Imaging and Spectroscopy session at the Biomedical Optics (BIOMED) Topical Meeting held between April 11-14, 2010 in Miami, US. The awards were given to the best student poster presenters in each topical session who demonstrated outstanding research and scientific presentation skills in the Biomedical Optics field.

BMPI RECEIVES 1.9 M€ FOR PHOTOACOUSTICS RESEARCH

BMPI RECEIVES 1.9 M€ FOR PHOTOACOUSTICS RESEARCH 3 februari 2010 - BMPI has secured two grants for in total 1.9 M€. One grant, of 400 k€ is obtained from the Foundation for Fundamental Research of Matter in the Netherlands (FOM, www.fom.nl), in their program ‘New Physical Instruments for Health Care’. The other, of 1.5 M€, is a VICI-grant obtained by Wiendelt Steenbergen. VICI is a program of the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research NWO (www.nwo.nl) for personal funding.
