Sara Longo was born on October 30th 1989 in San Dona’ di Piave, Italy. Here, she attended the “Liceo Classico Montale” as pre-university education school. She pursued her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry (summa cum laude) in June 2011 at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. At the same university, she gained her Master’s degree in Science and Technologies of Bio and Nanomaterials (summa cum laude), in March 2016. For her Master thesis, she worked for one year on a biomedical project in the “Electrochemical biosensors laboratory”, under the supervision of Prof. Paolo Ugo, presenting the thesis entitled “Detection of different isotypes of anti-tissue transglutaminase by nanoelectrode ensemble biosensors for celiac disease diagnosis”. She developed a novel electrochemical immunosensor for the serological diagnosis of celiac disease, based on arrays of gold nanoelectrodes for the detection of two isotypes of the anti-tissue transglutaminase antibody, a reliable biomarker of celiac disease.
Since August 2016, she is a PhD candidate in the Molecular Nanofabrication (MNF) group under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ir. Jurriaan Huskens and Prof. Dr. Ir. Pascal Jonkheijm. The goal of her project is studying multivalent interactions at interfaces with biomolecular/biological systems, with the aim to apply them in the biomedical field, such as for developing bio-sensing devices.
