PARTNERS TECHNICAL MEDICINE

The Technical Medicine Bachelor’s and Master’s programs benefit from close collaboration within a network of academic, clinical and industrial partners.

More than 50 hospitals and other clinical institutions are involved in the educational program and the clinical internships. Several of these hospitals are also cooperating with research groups of MIRA within multidisciplinairy R&D projects.

RADBOUD UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTRE nijmegen (radbouduMC)

The Radboud University Medical Centre Nijmegen has closely collaborated with Technical Medicine since its start in 2003. Several clinical and pre-clinical departments are involved in the development and execution of the educational program. Additionally, Nijmegen is hosting more than 20 individual internships within the master’s program per year. Scientists of the University of Twente and the RadboudUMC are research partners within several projects. The University of Twente is  partner of the Donders Centre of Cognitive Neurosciences. The focus of the collaborative R&D projects is on the neural system and on medical imaging and minimally invasive interventions. (www.radboudumc.nl)

UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTRE GRONINGEN (UMCG)

The University Medical Centre of Groningen has worked together with Technical Medicine since 2009. Groningen is hosting several internships within the master’s program per year. Scientists of the University of Twente and the UMCG are partners in the Centre for Medical Imaging North Eastern Netherlands (CMINEN). Both institutions initiated the CMI together with the industrial partner Siemens Healthcare. In the meanwhile, the CMI is an acknowledged Centre of Research Excellence (CoRE) within the Innovative Medical Devices Initiative of NWO. Additionally, the Experimental Centre for Technical Medicine and the Wenckebach skillscentre of the UMCG are collaborating in several postgraduate courses. (www.umcg.nl)

THE UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTRE OF UTRECHT (UMCU) & NKI-AVL

The University Medical Centre of Utrecht & the Dutch Cancer Institute or Antoni van Leeuwenhoek hospital (NKI-AVL) are increasingly  prominent partners of Technical Medicine. Utrecht is hosting several internships within the master’s program per year. (www.umcutrecht.nl / www.nki.nl )

MEDISCH SPECTRUM TWENTE (MST)

The topclinical hospital Medisch Spectrum Twente in Enschede is providing most of the internships for the bachelor’s program and several internships for the master’s program. Several medical specialists of the MST are involved in the educational program. The MST and the UT have a long tradition of cooperation in the field of biomedical technology and medicine. This relation strongly intensified with the start of the Technical Medicine program and will be even more intense with the start of the clinical experimental facilities of the Centre for Medical Imaging at the campus of the University of Twente, that will be partly used by the MST for patient care. Additionally, the medical school of the MST and the ECTM have a strong collaboration in the educational field where nurses, medical residents and specialist are participating in courses provided by the ECTM. ZIEKENHUISGROEP TWENTE (ZGT)

The Ziekenhuisgroep Twente with locations in Hengelo and Almelo is a large general hospital. The medical specialists of the ZGT are contributing in the educational program and the internships of the technical medicine program. In addition, the medical school of the ZGT and the ECTM are collaborating on the educational field as nurses, medical residents and specialist are participating in courses provided by the ECTM.
