Remke Burie appointed as managing director of TechMed Centre

As of 1 July 2018, Remke Burie is appointed as Managing Director of the Technical Medical Centre (TechMed Centre) of the University of Twente.

He succeeds Marloes Letteboer, who held this position at the former institute MIRA, currently the TechMed Centre.

Besides the role of Managing Director of the institute’s part of the TechMed Centre, Remke Burie will also account for the business management of TechMed Infrastructure and of the TechMed Office (e.g., consisting of support staff for the institute).

As of April 2016, Remke Burie was Operations Director of the Technical Medical Centre. Before that, he was head of the department of the Experimental Centre for Technical Medicine (ECTM), as of August 2011.

As a Managing Director, Remke Burie will focus from a faculty transcending perspective on contributing to the strategy development of the Technical Medical Centre, on acquiring additional public and private funding and of potential partners for research and education in the area of the TechMed Centre.

Remke Burie’s respond on his appointment: “I am very pleased with this appointment and I will be fully engaged in the coming years to position the Technical Medical Centre internationally, to make our education and research grow further and thus to contribute to better healthcare.
