Join us on 8 October 2026 for the festive opening of the renewed BioEngineering Labs at the TechMed Centre, University of Twente. Spanning more than 1,800 m², this state-of-the-art facility brings together advanced laboratories in biology, chemistry, and physics to enable interdisciplinary research and innovation. During the event, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the facilities and discover how the BioEngineering Labs support pioneering work in biomaterials, biosensing, microscopy, stem cell technologies, bioprinting, and artificial organs. By combining bioengineering infrastructure with expertise in medical technology, nanotechnology, and cleanroom facilities, the labs create a unique environment for developing next-generation healthcare solutions. The opening brings together researchers, industry partners, and innovators to celebrate this important milestone and explore new opportunities for collaboration in healthcare and biotechnology.
The programme
The opening of the BioEngineering Labs will focus on discovering the labs through guided tours, featuring demonstrations of ongoing innovations and research presented by the researchers themselves. There will also be ample opportunity to connect with fellow attendees and users of the laboratory spaces, and of course, the programme will include an official opening ceremony to celebrate this milestone.

To participate in this event, please register. Participation is free of charge; however, registration is not without obligation. Catering will be arranged, and a badge will be prepared for you. Additionally, spots are limited. Therefore, we count on you to inform us if you cannot attend. Organisation
The BioEngineering Labs are an advanced research facility of the TechMed Centre at the University of Twente, spanning more than 1,800 m² of laboratories for cell biology, chemistry, and physics. The labs provide researchers with access to state-of-the-art equipment for work in the fields of biomaterials, biosensing, microscopy, stem cell technologies, bioprinting, and artificial organs. The facility is open to partners from academia, research institutes, and industry and is managed by the TechMed Centre Facilities team. Through collaboration with MESA+ nanotechnology expertise and cleanroom facilities, the BioEngineering Labs offer a unique environment for pioneering research into medical technology and biomedical products.
