Reimagining Oncology Care: From Today's Patient Journey to Tomorrow's Reality
The oncology care we know today would have seemed almost unimaginable just a few decades ago. Diagnostic tests that once took weeks, treatments with limited precision, and care delivered exclusively within hospital walls have gradually evolved into increasingly personalised and technology-enabled healthcare. But what transformations are still ahead of us?
In this interactive session, a patient, healthcare professional, researcher, and industry innovator take the audience on a journey through the past, present, and future of oncology care. Through a continuous narrative, they explore how modern cancer care came to be, which technological innovations are already changing practice today, and how emerging technologies such as lab-on-a-chip platforms are paving the way for earlier diagnosis, point-of-care testing, and home-based monitoring. Each speaker passes the story to the next through a wish, question, or challenge, creating a unique full-circle narrative. The journey begins with the experience of a patient navigating today's oncology care system and ends with that same patient imagining the experience of a future patient in a world where advanced technologies have become part of everyday care.
By connecting personal experiences, clinical practice, technological innovation, and future visions, this session invites participants to reflect on a fundamental question: if oncology care has already undergone such profound transformation, what changes are we willing to imagine, develop, and implement for the decades ahead?
