Biography

Prof. Sonia M. Garcia Blanco

Prof. Dr. Sonia García Blanco obtained her PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Glasgow (2003) in integrated optics for optical biosensors. After a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Toronto, she spent 6 years as staff scientist in an industrial research laboratory (INO in Québec City, Canada), working on the development of different wafer-level micropackaging and microbench technologies. She joined the University of Twente in 2010 as tenure track assistant professor. She currently leads the Integrated Optical Systems Group (IOS), developing materials, devices and integration technologies for active on-chip devices for different applications, with strong focus on optical sensors. In 2014, she was awarded an ERC Consolidator grant and became a partner of the Personalized Healthcare H2020 project GLAM- 634928). Prof. Dr. García-Blanco has authored and co-authored more than 150 refereed journal papers and conference contributions.
