Biography

Dr. Jelmer Wolterink
University of Twente - Assistent professor

Dr. Jelmer Wolterink is an assistant professor (tenure track) in the Applied Analysis group of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS) at the University of Twente. He is an expert in artificial intelligence-based analysis of medical images, with a focus on CT and MR images of the cardiovascular system. He has a BSc in Artificial Intelligence and an MSc in Mathemathical Sciences. He obtained his PhD at the Image Sciences Institute at UMC Utrecht. Following this, he was a postdoctoral researcher at UMC Utrecht and Amsterdam UMC (AMC). His research focus is on the use of generative machine learning models and geometric deep learning approaches for medical image analysis. Dr. Wolterink has over 40 peer-reviewed international publications, has organized workshops and tutorials on the use of deep learning for medical image analysis at international conferences, and has co-authored three book chapters on this topic.
