Are you looking for an inspiring way to spend your summer 2018?
The CuriousU experience is a one-of-a-kind combination of a summer school and a festival. Our summer school package includes: academic courses, music, sports, theatre, inspirational speakers and accomodation at the campus of the University of Twente. We’ve got it all. The last edition of CuriousU in 2017 was a huge success with participants from 50 countries! Check out CuriousU and get inspired.
You wouldn’t want to miss it on 12 - 21 August, 2018. This is definitely the only festival style summer school in Europe!
More courses will be added in 2018!
The University of Twente offers tailor made programmes that introduce your students and staff to the multidisciplinary and project- based learning method of the University of Twente. In our education we fuse technology, science and engineering with social sciences to foster out of the box problem solving and (self-) discovery.
Yes indeed! CuriousU offers a unique festival-style summer school experience in the Netherlands. Besides our academic courses, there will also be inspirational speakers, entertainment and social activities for all the participants. There will for example be a band night, a beach volleyball tournament and a movie night. This all takes place at the lively University of Twente campus.

CuriousU is focused on Bachelor’s students in their second to last or last year, and entry level Master’s students, but is also open for anyone with broad interests and an inquisitive mind. So we do not have specific (C)GPA requirements.
If you doubt whether you will be admitted, you can use our question based admission tool prior to your registration.
Instruction Language is English
Due to the international character of CuriousU the courses and keynotes are all in English. Therefore, CuriousU is a great opportunity to practice your English language skills!
We expect you to have a good command of the English language but these language requirements are your own responsibility and will enable you to follow the courses' lectures. However, applicants do not need to prove the suggested language skills in the registration process. Don't worry about communicating with the Dutch, by the way: 90% of the Dutch population understands and speaks English!
Are you between 15 to 18 years?
Have a look at summer camp InspireU. InspireU is an event for both international and Dutch students who haven't yet started their university careers, but are finishing up their high-school education. If you are between 15 to 18 years old, you are good to go admission wise.
"Holland" or "the Netherlands" stands out for its great inventiveness, its high quality higher education, its problem-solving attitude and its openness to the world. Studying in Holland offers you the space to be a pioneer, be creative and get connected. The more than 1,500 English-taught study programmes and courses cover a broad range of fields.
The University of Twente has a unique multidisciplinary "high tech- human touch" approach, an entrepreneurial mindset and a green campus: just a few reasons to study here and become one of its campus wonderers! You’ll love the festival environment while meeting like-minded students from all over the world. The opportunities are endless: get inspired by our keynote speakers, dance or just chill while listening to all kinds of music, be amazed by our theatre performers, and learn from our world-class academic teaching staff.
Curious about the rest of the Netherlands?
During your stay you can take a trip to well known cities in the Netherlands like Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, The Hague or even Giethoorn ("Small Venice of the North"). Germany (Münster, Osnabrück) is also really near since our campus is located near the german-dutch borders. They are all worth a visit and easy to reach by public transport (do not miss the chance to experience the fast and always on-time dutch trains!). For example, Amsterdam (the famous capital of Holland) is only about two hours away by train.
