Application & enrolment process for non-Dutch students

Eligibility check (status): Failed: Succeeded

As a prospective Master's student, you can receive advice about your eligibility by doing the eligibility check. This check gives you an indication of your chances of being admitted to the master’s programme of your choice and the outcome is a personal advice to you. 

After finishing the eligibility check we’ll send you an official e-check code needed to complete the application procedure. Completing the check is mandatory for all international students.

What does failed mean?

Based on the answers you provided you do not seem to be eligible. Please read the email you received after completing the e-check.

What does succeeded mean?

Based on the answers you provided you seem to be eligible. Please continue with the steps mentioned in the email you received after completing the e-check.

Studielink (application)

Studielink is a national entrollment system for degree-seeking university students in the Netherlands. You apply for the study programme of your choice.

Osiris (application)

Osiris is a university system for Student Information and is a necessary step for your application (e.g. uploading documents). You need to use the login credentials we've provided to you by email.

Additional information

In some cased we need additional information. If we require further information from you during the application process, we will of course let you know!

If you receive no further communication from us, this means we have all the information we need to assess your application.

Confirmation of your application

Immediately after submission of your Osiris application form, you will receive a confirmation by email so you know your application has been received.

If you are still required to submit documents, you will receive additional instructions via e-mail about what you need to do to complete your application.

Admission result: Conditional: Rejected: Accepted

We first check whether we have all the information we need to assess your application. We will then determine whether you can be admitted to the study programme. Once you have submitted all relevant details, the admissions committee will assess your application. It may take some time before you hear whether you have been admitted.

Finally this is the result for your application. There are three different outcomes:

Accepted

You've received an email with an admission notice for either a Master’s degree programme or a Pre-master, together with instructions how you need to confirm your application.

Conditional

You've received a conditional admission. This means that you do not yet comply with all the requirements for the study programme of your choice. The correspondence sent to you explains what further actions you need to take for final admission.

Rejected

In some cases you do not meet the admission requirements for the study programme of your choice. Your application will be rejected. This result is explained in the letter hat is sent to you by email.

Offer of admission: Withdraw: Accepted

If you wish to study at the University of Twente, you need to accept our admission offer.

Withdraw

If your plans have changed, we would ask you to withdraw your application via Studielink, so you receive no further communication.

Payment / Visa / Housing

Students who require an entry visa or residence permit are required to pay the tuition fees during the visa application process!

Visa

If necessary, we arrange visa and residence permit for international students. The visa application process will be started after the University of Twente has received the tuition fees.

Housing

Student in need of visa and/or residence permit, will guaranteed receive an offer for housing from the University of Twente, if they apply for it. For more information check the housing website.

Arrange payment & Enrolment

You can arrange payment of tuition fees via your Studielink account you've created earlier in this process.  

What's next?

When your tuition fees have been paid and you have submitted all necessary documents, a final check will be carried out. Once everything has been approved, we will enrol you for your study programme. You will receive a statement of enrolment and your student card by post.

Kick in / Formality market

The Kick-In is the introduction period for all new students at the University of Twente. This is the perfect opportunity to get to know one another, the university, the campus, the city of Enschede and all it has to offer; in other words, the ideal introduction to all the fun aspects of student life.

All international students are required to attend the formality market (during the Kick-in introduction period). Here you will receive assistance in completing the formalities for living and studying in the Netherlands.
