Application & enrolment process for non-Dutch students

Please keep in mind -  the status below is only a snapshot of your current Application & Enrolment position!

You need to follow all steps in this application process.

Eligibility check (status): Failed: Succeeded

As a prospective Master's student, you can receive advice about your eligibility by doing the eligibility check. This check gives you an indication of your chances of being admitted to the master’s programme of your choice and the outcome is a personal advice to you. 

After finishing the eligibility check we’ll send you an official e-check code needed to complete the application procedure. Completing the check is mandatory for all international students.

What does failed mean?

Based on the answers you provided you do not seem to be eligible. Please read the email you received after completing the e-check.

What does succeeded mean?

Based on the answers you provided you seem to be eligible. Please continue with the steps mentioned in the email you received after completing the e-check.

Studielink (application)

Studielink is a national entrolment system for degree-seeking university students in the Netherlands. You apply for the study programme of your choice.

Osiris (application)

Osiris is a university system for Student Information and is a necessary step for your application (e.g. uploading documents). You need to use the login credentials we've provided to you by email.

Additional information

In some cases we need additional information. If we require further information from you during the application process, we will let you know.  If you receive no further communication from us, this means we have all the information we need to assess your application.

Confirmation of your application

Immediately after submission of your Osiris application form, you will receive a confirmation by email so you know your application has been received.  

Are your documents incomplete? If we need additional  documents, you will receive instructions via e-mail.

Admission result: Conditional: Rejected: Accepted

First we check  if we have all the information we need to assess your application. In the next step we determine whether you can be admitted to the study programme. The admissions committee will assess your application. It may take some time before you hear whether you have been admitted.

Finally this is the result for your application. There are three different outcomes:

Accepted

You've received an email with an admission notice for either a Master’s degree programme or a Pre-master, together with instructions how you need to confirm your application.

Conditional

You've received a conditional admission. This means that you do not yet comply with all the requirements for the study programme of your choice. The correspondence sent to you explains what further actions you need to take for final admission.

Rejected

In some cases you do not meet the admission requirements for the study programme of your choice. Your application will be rejected. This result is explained in the letter hat is sent to you by email.

Do you need funding?
Being a student costs money. After admission you need to make sure you can finance your studies. There are different types of financial aid available. There are different types of financial aid you can check and apply for.

If you wish to study at the University of Twente, you need to accept our admission offer.

If your plans have changed, we would ask you to withdraw your application via Studielink, so you receive no further communication.

Visa

Please note: non-EU students are required to pay the tuition fees during the visa application process.

Visa
If a student needs a visa or residence permit, the University of Twente will apply for an entry visa and/or residence permit on their behalf. The visa application process will be started by the university after the student has 

- paid the tuition fee
- paid the visa application fee
- provided proof of finance for living

Housing

The University of Twente guarantees to offer all first-year students needing an entry visa and/or residence permit timely, appropriate and affordable furnished housing! 

If you would like us to assist you in finding accommodation on campus or in the vicinity of our university, please create an account at Roomspot; the online housing portal for Enschede and Hengelo. 

Extra housing offers for non-EER students
As soon as we have received and registered:

- the payment for your entry visa and tuition fe 
- provided proof of finance for living

you will get extra furnished housing offers in Roomspot that are exclusively available for you!

In case you don’t need a visa and/or residence permit you should as well create an account at Roomspot; a housing portal for the cities Enschede and Hengelo. In Roomspot you easily apply for the accommodations you are interested in.

Arrange tuition fee payment & enrolment

You can arrange payment of tuition fees via your Studielink account you've created earlier in this process.  

What's next?
When your tuition fees have been paid and you have submitted all necessary documents, a final check will be carried out. Once everything has been approved, we will enrol you for your study programme. 

Student card
You will receive a statement of enrolment and your student card by post if your home address (as enrolled student) is in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium or Luxembourg.

All other students need to pick-up the card as soon as they are on campus. Students following the Master Environmental and Energy Management programme can pick-up their card in Leeuwaarden while attending the introdcution week. 

Kick in / Formality market

The Kick-In is the introduction period for all new students at the University of Twente. This is the perfect opportunity to get to know one another, the university, the campus, the city of Enschede and all it has to offer; in other words, the ideal introduction to all the fun aspects of student life.
