Science Café Enschede

Science Café Enschede is the place where science takes center stage

Without a lab coat, but with a good conversation, an open mind and a healthy dose of curiosity. Around six times a year, researchers, thinkers and doers come together to share their knowledge in a way that everyone can follow. No long lectures, but engaging stories and honest discussions where questions are actively encouraged. You’ll find the Science Café at Concordia in Enschede. A friendly atmosphere is guaranteed, as freshly tapped beers are also welcome in Concordia’s theatre.

Whether it’s artificial intelligence, sustainability dilemmas, medical innovations or the mysteries of the brain, the Science Café brings science to life. We link current topics to everyday experiences and show how research impacts the world around us.

Science Café Enschede is an initiative of the University of Twente and Saxion University of Applied Sciences, organised by a team of people from a variety of professional backgrounds both within and outside the region. The Science Cafés offer an accessible way to exchange ideas on scientific developments. The events are usually organised in Dutch.

Beer mats

During the break, visitors have the opportunity to write questions for the speakers on beer mats at the Sam Sam bar. The questions are displayed on screen after the break and usually spark a lively discussion between the speakers, the moderator and the audience.
