The Nobel Prizes in Physiology/Medicine, Physics and Chemistry 2026 have recently been awarded. Curious who the winners are and why they were awarded these prestigious Nobel Prizes? Then join the annual Nobel Lectures organized by the Faculty of Science & Technology and Studium Generale! Scientists explain what these Prizes are all about and who the winners are. With free buffet for students!

This year we have the following line-up:

Prof dr Richard van Wezel (Donders Centre for Neuroscience & UT) will explain the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2026, which was awarded to Karl Deisseroth, Peter Hegemann and Georg Nagel “for their discoveries concerning light-gated ion channels and optogenetics”.

Prof dr Aart Heijboer (Nikhef) will explain the Nobel Prize in Physics 2026, which was awarded to Francis Halzen “for decisive contributions to the IceCube Neutrino Observatory and the discovery of high-energy neutrinos of astrophysical origin”.

Dr Maurice H.M. Janssen (Founder & CEO of MassSpecpecD BV) will explain the Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2026, which was awarded to Henri B. Kagan and Kenso Soai “for the discovery of non-linear effects and autocatalysis in asymmetric organic synthesis”.
