Drs. Ank Bijleveld studied Public Administration at the UT in the 1980’s. Thereafter she became Mayor, State Secretary and King's Commissioner. Today she is the Dutch Minister of Defence. A position in which she is responsible for not only the safety of 60.000 soldiers and civilians working for the Dutch army, but also for the defence of our country. A complex responsibility with a lot of opposing forces to balance: international (NATO), European and national. How to avert the largest threats for our country? And what is the most valuable lesson she learned at the UT?
