Taiwan, a country that doesn't exist
Taiwan is one of the world's major economies, yet the United Nations does not recognize its existence. Isn’t that odd? Journalist Maite Vermeulen travelled to Taiwan to find out how important international recognition is and how a decade-old conflict with China is still the number one issue in Taiwanese politics. She also gives a lot of practical suggestions for travelling in this country.
Maite Vermeulen is correspondent Conflict & Development at the online journalism platform De Correspondent. Her focus is on international relations, conflicts worldwide and development aid.
