information session

The event is focused on the funding opportunities provided by the European Defence Fund (EDF).

Grants Office invites all those interested to join the event where Boy Dacier and Victor Hartong, RVO National Contact Point (NCP) Cluster 3, are going to walk participants through the main features of EDF Programme, including calls for funding and rules for participation. A panel discussion will follow NCP’s intervention, featuring Irna van der Molen, UT Senior Policy Advisor Knowledge Safety And Export Control, who will explain rules and regulations when working on security related topics. Audience will be able to ask questions during a final Q&A time.

We aim at organising the information session as a hybrid event, depending on relevant health safety measures and capacity of meeting rooms – please indicate your preferred option of participation (in person or remotely) on the registration form and we will do our best to accommodate preferences. You will receive details about the location and/or log in information after registration.

The event will be recorded, so if you are unavailable to attend on 22 September from 14.00 to 15.30, but would be interested in the European Defence Fund, please sign up as well. You will receive the recording afterwards.

European Defence Fund

The European Defence Fund (EDF) is the European Commission's initiative to support collaborative defence research and development, and to foster an innovative and competitive defence industrial base. The Fund will financially support consortia of companies from different member states undertaking cooperative defence research and development of defence products and technologies. EDF has a budget of 7,9 billion € over 2021-2027. The Fund is comprised of two complementary strands. A "research strand" funding the collaborative research in innovative defence technologies, and a "development strand" co-funding the joint development of defence products and technologies.

Apply for funding

All funding information and details on how to apply are on the Funding and Tenders portal.

The EDF is implemented through annual work programmes structured along 17 thematic and horizontal categories of actions, which have been shaped to remain stable during the Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2027. Calls for proposals will be launched on an annual basis following the adoption of the corresponding annual work programme.

With a total budget of €1.2 billion, the first 23 EDF calls for proposals have been published on 30 June 2021. The deadline for submission of proposals is set to 9 December 2021.
