Stephanie Hessing is the new Managing Director of the 4TU Centre for Resilience Engineering (4TU RE). She follows Marjolein Dohmen-Janssen, who has become the new Secretary of the 4TU Federation.
Stephanie has worked as executive director and manager in Paris-Sud, Yale and at the TU Delft. As such, she brings ample experience in establishing and building international and transdisciplinary teams. She will combine her role as the 4TU RE Managing Director with her position as management team member of the Digital Society Institute at the University of Twente. Stephanie will work alongside the Steering Group of the Centre and Scientific Director Dr. Tina Comes.
Stephanie Hessing: “Current problems around the globe show us that being or becoming resilient is not a nice add-on, but a true necessity. This undisputable calls for an open-minded mentality, an inclusive approach and united action. To me, 4TU RE is a copy of exactly these ingredients and I’m honoured to become a small part of it. I hope to contribute to bringing the Centre to the next phase. It has been a great achievement of those who have been involved from the very start to bring a young and new Centre this quickly up to speed and to set up such a large supporting community. Maintaining these positive vibes, the enthusiasm and meanwhile a sense of urgency, is what I see as my role.”

4TU RE steering group
Marjolein Dohmen-Janssen stepped down as the managing director and as a member of the scientific steering group of 4TU RE. Tina Comes: “Of course, we are very grateful for Marjolein’s efforts over the past four years in establishing the Centre, and turning it from an idea into a flourishing community. We wish her all the best and good luck with her new challenge.” Stephanie will also take Marjolein’s position in the scientific steering group, alongside Prof. Andy Nelson and Dr. Joanne Vinke-De Kruijf as the representatives from the University of Twente.
