International Womens Day
On March 8th at 16:00, we will gather at Stationsplein in Enschede to march together and end in Sickhouse cultural center for an aftercare vent. International Women’s Day is not only a celebration, it is a moment for reflection and collective action. This year, we are joining forces with feminist collectives, activists, and community members across Enschede to stand for equality in education and business, and for safe spaces free from harassment and discrimination.
The march is centered around unity, visibility, and collective strength. We aim to create a space where students and community members can stand together in solidarity and resistance, while upholding shared values of respect, responsibility, and non-violence.
In light of incidents that occurred during last year’s International Women’s Day, Amnesty is taking additional precautions to ensure a safe and supportive environment. They have carefully selected the safest possible route, expanded their safety team, and will communicate clear safety protocols ahead of the event. The march will be conducted responsibly and in coordination with the relevant authorities.
In addition, on March 5th at O&O Square at lunchtime (12:30-13:30), Amnesty will host an open and creative pre-event where everyone is welcome to join. Participants can use paint and cardboard to draw, write, and create their own signs and posters reflecting what they want to express during the International Women’s Day march. This moment is intended to foster dialogue, creativity, and collective preparation within the university community.
